The International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) has just disclosed the second official game title to be played at the 9th e-Sports World Championship in Busan, KoreaLeague of Legends (LoL).

LoL was first played at the IeSF World Championship 2013 in Bucharest, Romania. After not having been a part in 2014, it returned to the World Championships in 2015 in Seoul, Korea, and 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia. So far, every single time when LoL was an official game title at the World Championship of the IeSF it was the team from Korea taking the title.

In 2013 the Swiss team led by Dennis Berg aka. “Koala with a hat” made it to the quarter finals where they lost against the World Champion from Korea. In 2015 in Korea, again led by ‘Koala’, the Swiss national team showed a great performance and finished the tournament in 4th place, only having lost to China in the semi-final and Serbia in the game for 3rd Place. Last year in Jakarta the team was led by Ali Nasserzadeh aka. “Lagily”, who was also part of ‘Koala’s line-up the year before. Having had to face big names such as China or Sweden in their group, the line-up around Ali was unfortunately eliminated from the championship already  at that stage. All the results of last year’s World Championship are disclosed on the IeSF website.

The details on how Swiss players may qualify to represent Switzerland in this year’s World Championship in Busan, Korea, will follow as soon as we have them.
