Bern, the 27th of August 2020: The Swiss Esports Federation (SESF) has appointed Jon Baumann as its new president. Asif Hanafi is returning to the board. With a revised strategy, and an increasingly professional organisation, the board will now focus on bringing more direct benefits to the SESF members and help them solve their daily struggles.
The annual general meeting of the SESF was, like many other current events, dominated by the COVID-19 protection protocols. In compliance with the Federal Government recommendations on social distancing and with facemask requirements, the members of the Federation met in Bern. The main focus was the election of the board, as well as the admission of new members.
The representatives of the organisations attending elected old, and new faces to the SESF board. Jon Baumann took over the presidency from Romain Bodinier, whose work was acknowledged with applause. Asif Hanafi returns to the board and the previous board members Gabriel Ratano (Vice-President), Yann Beaud and Cédric Schlosser were reelected.
“We strongly believe in the potential of professional federation. Backed by the trust of our members, we are eager to advance on current issues and set up a long term strategy” stated Jon Baumann. Vice-President Gabriel Ratano added: “Now is the time to really leverage on the continuous effort of our dedicated staff team to shake up the swiss esports scene”. The elected board is now working on implementing and revising the strategy, whilst the executive team continues to optimize the daily operations.
Newly welcomed to the ranks of the SESF members were virtualetix, Erupt Esports AG, Blackbirds and XPULZ Gaming GmbH.This means that the number of full ordinary members, which consists mainly of the esports teams, esports tournament organisers and esports consulting companies, grew to 28. Membership is open at any time for organisations active in Swiss esports or interested in stepping into it! .

About the Swiss Esports Federation
Founded on January 1st, 2008, the Swiss Esports Federation is a non-profit association comprised of Switzerland's most active esports organisations. Its goal is to promote, professionalise, create, and foster esports. The SESF will also advise on incorporating regulations and, most importantly, establish esports as a sport or equivalent status in Switzerland. The organisation prides itself on fair play, power to the players, and has a zero-tolerance non-discrimination policy. The Swiss Esports Federation is also a founding member of the International Esports Federation.
