After the annual GM, the Swiss Esports Federation is now operating with seven people in the Board. The first online GM held by the federation did not only bring new board members: the SESF members voted on motions to adapt the statutes for upcoming challenges and agreed to join the Global Esports Federation GEF.
Continuity is key: Previous Board Members Jon Baumann (President, individual member) and Garbriel Ratano (Vice-President, individual member) along with Yann Beaud (PolyLAN) and Cedric Schlosser (mYinsanity) got re-elected by the members of the SESF, to serve the federation for the the upcoming period 2021/2022. Additionally, the SESF welcomes new faces to the board. The SESF-memberbase voted Patrick Gobonya (Ovation eSports), Leonardo Giani and Nadir Laguerre (both Edelweiss Esports) in the role of new board members.
“I’m excited about the renewed board, since we have now a broad mix of capabilities on board, to push the SESF further towards broader and sustainable funding that will help us to further professionalise our work to benefit all of our members as best as we can”
It is with a heavy heart that the federation bids goodbye to Asif Hanafi who decided to step down from his board position. With his sheer power to move projects ahead, the SESF loses a competent and experienced board member. We thank Asif for his uncountable hours of high-quality service and are pleased that he will stay a part of the SESF-family as a member of the federation.
The SESF joins the Global Esports Federation (GEF)
The SESF members had to vote on several motions requesting changes in the statutes such as a revision of the rights of individual members and some adjustments to make organisational processes more flexible – such as the possibility to hold the GM online.
The application for membership to the Global Esports Federation was approved by the members. With this vote, the SESF strengthens its international involvement and shows its commitment to further develop international collaborations.
“I am glad that the SESF members approved our candidacy to the Global Esports Federation, as it marks a step further in strengthening the international position of Switzerland in esports. The GEF is a very professional organisation, and we cannot wait to bring our contribution to their growth.”
